You will be happy to know that you haven't damaged or weakened your strut. This tow-bar mount is made to fit Zenith or Cessna built tow-bars which are affordable and readily available.
Note: The tow-bar attachment bracket only comes with one hole in order to ensure proper alignment. See installation instructions for details on how to drill the second hole.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1.
Remove the two front fork mounting bolts on your aircraft.
Step 2.
Attach the tow-bar mounting bracket on top of the nose gear strut and secure with one bolt. Yes, the tow-bar attachment bracket only comes with 1 hole. This is to ensure proper alignment to the hole spacing on your nose gear strut. We found this spacing to vary depending on the aircraft.
Step 3.
Using a scribe or fine pen, mark the location of the opposing hole on the tow-bar attachment bracket. Then remove the bracket.
Step 4.
Drill the bracket in the marked location. Then re-install the tow-bar attachment bracket using both bolts.
See product photos for final installed result.

Hello! Some time back, I ordered one of your towbar adapters for my Zenith 750 STOL. I finally got around to installing it as I'm getting a Minimax electric towbar/tug. The installation was easy and straightforward - I didn't even have to jack up the nose or remove anything. My fork's curved mounting plate did have a protruding tongue with a slot to drop a towbar into. I did have to grind down that tongue a bit for clearance with the adapter, but it was no problem. BTW, Minimax wanted a little more length to the 3" tube for a more secure clamping of their mechanism, so they're sending me an AN6 bolt to go through the adapter - the head of the bolt and the nut on the other end will in effect provide a bit more length. Just thought you might like the follow-up! Regards,
John
